Our Programs

NCUE has carefully constructed and refined an urban teacher education model to ensure the success of ISU pre-service urban teachers. Through redesigned university courses with embedded clinical experiences, summer fellowship opportunities, and community engagement opportunities, pre-service teachers are immersed in communities of high-need and rich resources. Acculturation into these communities has enabled pre-service teachers to develop foundational and community-specific competencies needed to work in urban settings.  Our programs include:

• Clinical experiences that integrate school and community
• The Summer Teacher Education Partnership for Urban Preparation (STEP-UP) Fellowship
• Student Teaching (semester and year-long placements)
• Employment services for Pipeline graduates
• Induction/Mentoring for two years for all ISU graduates teaching in CPS
